The TRT story begins. From their first workshop in Rangiuru, near Te Puke, the founding partners built a reputation for quality truck and trailer repairs.
This era was defined by hands-on engineering and expansion into specialised transport solutions, with TRT beginning to manufacture its first custom-built trailers in the 1970s.
1980’s — 1990’s
As our reputation grew, so did our capabilities. The 1980s saw TRT focus on designing and manufacturing our own line of heavy haulage trailers.
A pivotal moment came in 1997 when we moved to our current 8.4-hectare state-of-the-art facility on Maui Street in Hamilton. This was immediately followed by our first major expansion, with the opening of the Auckland branch in 1998.
2000’s
The new millennium marked a significant geographic expansion.
TRT Australia was established in Brisbane in 2000, bringing our manufacturing expertise across the Tasman. We further strengthened our New Zealand network with the opening of the Christchurch branch in 2001.
This decade was about building the foundation for international growth and solidifying our nationwide support network.
2010’s
This period was defined by landmark product and partnership milestones.
In 2011, TRT began designing and manufacturing the TIDD Pick and Carry Crane, which would set new industry benchmarks for safety.
We became the exclusive New Zealand distributor for HIAB in 2016, followed by our appointment as agents for the full range of Manitowoc and Grove cranes in 2018, cementing our position as a leader in the heavy lift industry.
2020’s — Beyond
Today, TRT is an internationally recognised leader in specialised equipment.
While we’ve grown, our core values remain unchanged. We continue to invest in our people, our plant, and in pioneering new technologies.
